Ladies Auxiliary
The Ladies Auxiliary's main function is to SUPPORT the men and Council 571. They
do this primarily by providing help at events, cooking for events and providing
monetary help. They also generally do help with setting up and beautifying the
hall for events.
The Ladies Auxiliary of Council 571 main charity is the
Women's Abuse Center at our local YWCA. This is a safe haven for women and
their children in cases of domestic violence.
If you are interested in joining the Ladies Auxiliary of
Council 571, please feel free to contact any current officer or call and leave a message, or email the council with your name and
number, so we may call you back.

Ladies Auxiliary News
Installation of officers was held in
conjunction with the Council on July 22nd.
Thanks to all who donated refreshments and helped in the kitchen: JoAnn Malita,
Felicia Roarty, Sherri Curran, Rita Chatfield, Virginia Thedinga, Ronna Shelton,
Debbie Jo Geeting and Lee Stock.
The Family Picnic was held at
Orcutt’s on July 25th. A
good time was had by all. Thanks for your delicious dishes, and special thanks
to Ron and Bonnie for hosting this activity.
An Officers’
Meeting was held on June 28th
for the purpose of planning activities for the coming year. We have many
activities coming up in the year ahead and we hope you will join us.
Our regular
meeting will be held at the Council Hall on August 16th
at 7:00 PM. We have learned that the Women’s Abuse Shelter is in need of
pillows. Please bring one or more to our August meeting to be donated to the
Abuse Shelter. They will be greatly appreciated.
Many of our
Auxiliary members have children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or other
relatives in the military. We would appreciate having the names and addresses
of those deployed overseas. We want to show our support and appreciation for
our service men and women who are far away from home. Some ideas have been
suggested and will be discussed further at the August meeting. Please send
names and addresses to Lee Stock at 3514 Belnor Drive, St. Joseph, MO 64506.
Plans are
already in progress for the ladies’ answer to the men’s Turkey Shoot. Last
year, this activity was a great success and we hope it will be even bigger and
better this year. Your ideas are welcome. Please share them with one of the
Auxiliary officers. Watch for further details as they develop.
We have received
a request from Northwest MO Children’s Advocacy Center. The Center works with
abused children. They are in need of fleece blankets which are given to the
children when they have their exam. There is a group of women at Living
Community who have volunteered to make them, but they are in need of fabric. If
you would be willing to donate a yard of fleece, it would be greatly
appreciated. One yard will make a blanket. They prefer that the blankets be
adaptable to all ages. Either solid colors or designs such as nature, sports or
animals would be appropriate. Fabric can be taken to the Advocacy Center at
1807 N. Woodbine Rd., Suite E, or bring it to an Auxiliary meeting.
We look forward
to seeing you at our August meeting.
